2/11/11 Twice as nice!!! Well it's time for my Friday weekly weigh-in. And.............. I LOST 2 MORE POUNDS!!!!!! Tommy and I are headed to Maiden Alley tonight for some good music!! I am glad to see the SUN is out again today and we have a warming trend all next week! Work to be done, house to be straightened, and errands to be run. But I am doing it with a little bit of a kick in my step with this two pound loss. That puts me at a total of 11 pounds lost!! Tommy is so sweet. Last night he presented me with a folder that had all the resturants we visit and all of thier calories and other nutritional facts. How wonderful is that. I am so glad he is taking this journey with me. Life is good!!
2/10/11 Here Comes The Sun!!!! It snowed again yesterday!!! Snow Snow Snow Snow!!! I admit I was thrilled to see the SUN come out this morning. It made me think of the beatles song. It also made me think about my makeover body and soul. I thought I would post the lyrics. They seem fitting both for life in general and the weather. Hope everyone enjoys the day. I am taking the day off !!!!
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say it's all right. Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter. Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right. Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces. Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right. Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting. Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say it's all right It's all right !!
2/8/11 Soul Make-over
" I decided I needed a complete make-over, except this time I'd make-over make my soul!!"
I thought about this quote today from the movie Clueless becasue I was reading a friend from my home church's blog who is in Africa with the Peace Corps. I was reading her blog and looked at some pictures she had posted. The heading under the picture was week 31: 55lbs lost. Funny thing is .... before I noticed the heading I noticed how she was almost glowing. She looked so happy. She hadn't just made over her body....she had made over her soul. Thank you Jessica for inspiring me to also make-over my soul!!! I hope that when I am finished with this process I glow that much not only because I have made over my body but because I have made over my soul!!!
2/7/11 The Daily Word Prosperity ~ I set my imagination free, and I prosper!
For years my Godmother Eleanor has received The Daily Word. My parents have it as well. I was thrilled to see they are on Facebook so I added them and have been enjoying the Daily Word. Prosperity is the word for today. I love the line I set my imagination free. Isn't it nice to set your imagination free? I was listening to a travel show last night on NPR and the point of the guest was that Europe knows how to slow down. It is not unheard of for people to stay in a French Cafe for three hours. They take their time. I want to strive to take more time and let my imagination bet set free. I can't think of a better day to do this. I am loving all the snow. I invite you all to set your imaginations free. Play in the snow! Have fun today! Dream!
2/5/11 Crazy Week with a MUCH needed break....
This week was crazy. I felt like this picture most of the week. I had 2 evening trainings this week and a staff meetings plus preparing for my review. THAT’S CRAZY!!! But through all the craziness I managed to lose two more pounds this week. I had some flex time from working late two nights this week and took the day off Friday. Tommy had to take his care to the Acura dealer in Nashville so we stayed overnight. It was so nice to get away. We left early Friday morning. It was nice to get there early we checked in early and I took a nice long nap. We had lunch at my one of my new fav places in Nashville, Tazza. I was pretty well behaved for lunch with soup and a half turkey sandwich. I was not so well behaved later with pizza and cheesecake but that was my splurge for the week so I won't feel too bad. Tommy and I went to Big River Grill, the Rockstar, and Jesse Zanes. It was nice to go down on a Friday and come back Saturday. We didn't feel as rushed when we have to get back on Sunday's. I am so happy I had the much needed break.
1/30/11 Wonderful Weather and River City Rockers!!
The weekend has been wonderful. The weather has been great! Spicer and I had a blast at Mr. Gatti's. Mom and I accompanied Marsha to the Bridal Expo. She found a lot of ideas for the wedding. Tommy and I enjoyed a great time at Shandy's and Momma Pat's last night. The River City Rockers were palying and they have a great sound!! Even for a splurge day I was pretty good yesterday. Tommy and I split and appetizer at Shandy's and I had a plain hamburger (no cheese and no bun) with broccoli. I miss weather like this. HURRY SPRING!!!
1/28/11 Another Pound Bites the Dust!!!
Well today was my weekly weigh- in and I lost another pound!!!!!!! I am so excited!!! I know you might be thinking ... "One Pound???" but hey its one pound less than last week. I think each pound is a step in the right direction. I knew that it would be likely to start seeing weeks like this, weeks where I might just loose one pound. But hey I am very excited about my one pound!!!! On another note... Spike my cat is crazy!!! He came in my bedroom this morning and I had a shirt that was kind of sparkly sitting out and he was scared to death of it. I have never seen something more funny in my entire life. He kept poking at it and jumping in the air he was so frightened. I am headed to The Red Barn today to get some redeem my Christmas gift from Tommy's Son and his wife to be. I am excited to see all the cool things they have. I will take a picture of the loot I get.
1/26/11 Here we snow again!!
Ok it was a silly pun but I must admit I was surprised at all the snow we have. It seemed like it was just going to be a few flurries at best but my goodness it was so much more. I left my training last night and it was a little scary going home. The snow wasn't too bad on the roads but it was coming down so hard it was very difficult to see. I expected Spicer to be out today but Murray City Schools just had a 2 hour delay. Last night I did something very shocking....... I didn't eat ANY of the treats I bought for my info meeting. I have them all still out in the car to help with my will power. It is way too tempting to have them in the house. They are Bagels and Big Sugar Cookies from Kirchoffs. Tomorrow is the big test at Pattis for a co-workers wedding shower. There will be all types of landmines there but I think if I just keep my Friday weigh-in in mind I will do ok. I looked at the menu and I was pleased to find a very yummy Grilled Chicken and Fruit Salad. I think I will be good if I skip the dressing. See below.... YUMMY!!
Aloha Chicken Salad
Fresh Hawaiian Gold pineapple with fresh fruit of the season, along with a grilled chicken breast atop fresh, crisp greens. Served with our homemade cirtus cream sauce for dipping.
1/24/11 Let them eat cake!
I must admit that I am a SUCKER for sweets. I love cake!!! I knew that it was going to be hard to fight the temptation to eat a piece of cake at Jordan's Birthday last night. I knew that it would be tough to not want a bunch of pizza. But .... mom and dad had other food and I skipped the pizza and had a very small plate of pot roast instead with a banana. When it came time to cut the cake I cut myself a bite size and spooned out a teaspoon of ice cream. I DID eat cake but it was just a bite size. Normally I would have had a huge piece and two big scoops of ice cream. It felt good to still be able to enjoy the cake but without all the guilt. I want this weight loss to be something I can maintain. Giving up the things I love completely is likely unmanageable but controlling my portions is something I CAN do. And the cake was wonderful by the way. :)
1/23/11 I Love You Hoo Doo I had a great time last night!!!
Even though last night was my splurge night I felt like I was pretty well behaved. Subway for lunch, Small Popcorn at the Movies (that was the splurge), and then half a bowl of veggie beef soup and a grilled portabella mushroom at Momma Pats. We stopped in before the movies to the wonderful Ristorante di Fratelli http://difratelli.net/index.htm for some fantastic Vegetable Beef Soup. Tommy and I went to see I Love You Phillip Morris and it was outstanding. The best thing is that it is based on a true story. I actually heard the interview with the real Steven Russell on NPR. http://www.npr.org/2010/12/03/131783406/con-king-steven-russell-he-still-loves-phillip-morris (Check it out). Then on to Momma Pats for Aaron Williams and the Hoo Doo!!! I love this band!!! We have seen them several times. I loved their bluesy sound and how tight the band is. You know they are having fun and they love their job. The highlight of the night was when the drummer took his drum sticks around the room on all the tables and then finished the song on top of the bar with a nice little solo. Tommy and I met their manager and promoter. Their promoter Miss Georgia was just a peach. She is retired from the phone company and is doing this as her second career. Just goes to show even when so many people are closing out their lives she is starting something new and exciting. Kudos to you Miss Georgia. I hope I can be that way too when I'm your age. Today is my sweet nephew's Birthday. Happy Birthday Jo Jo!!! Ishy loves you so much. I will post pictures of the party in Spicer's Stuff tomorrow. Off to get him a present. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend. Cheers!
1/21/2011 It did snow!!!!!
It did snow!!!!! And it is very pretty I might add. I snapped this picture and just loved it. Spicer and I had fun in the snow today. You can take a look under his stuff for pictures. Friday is my weekly weigh in and I am very happy. Drum Roll......... .......... ......... ........... ............... ................ ............... .......... ............. ........... ......... ........... ............. ............ .........
I LOST 2 MORE POUNDS!!!! I am so glad. I am more than half way to my first 10 pounds. I plan on taking a weight loss pictures every ten pounds. So I hope to post a picture in the next few weeks. I think making these small goals along with my big goal will help. I don’t know if Tommy and I will get out tonight. This might be a good night to stay in with the weather and the cold. We will see.
1/20/2011 Snow???????
A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water. Carl Reiner
Snow is coming???? Maybe... we will see. Threat of snow tanked all of my plans today. I was going to head to Madisonville to file but that has been postponed. Now I am stuck waiting to see if the will call off schools or not. I called mom and it is already snowing in Paducah. On a different note, I am still on track with my diet and counting calories. It was nice last night to realize I had a few hundred calories to enjoy since I had a super light lunch. The last time I lost weight there were days I was only eating 600 or 700 calories. THAT is not a healthy way to lose weight. So I am NEVER going below 1200 calories. If it does SNOW I will post some pictures in tomorrow’s blog.
1/19/11 Diet Number (?????) this time I mean it!!!
I began my latest weight loss journey 1/7/11. Maybe because I started on the 7th this will be my lucky number. But luck really has nothing to do with it. I know this has to be a lifestyle change. I feel very good about this. I am pumped. I want to be realistic. I want to lose 80 pounds this year. I don’t think that is impossible. I know I can do it!! A few years ago I lost 100 pounds so 80lbs is going to happen, I am recording my weight loss on my Blackberry and in the blog. I plan to weigh in every Friday. My first weigh in was last Friday and I lost 4 pounds!!!! I am very excited about my first weigh in and even more excited about this week’s weigh in. I know there will be weigh ins I am less excited about than others but I feel like if I blog them and record them I can keep myself on track. My coworker has done something similar and has made a lot of progress. I hope this will also help me. But this just isn’t about me and my diet. These blogs will also be about the rest of my life. This will be about Spicer, Tommy, my family, my friends, my work, and even my cat Spike from time to time. I plan to update this blog as much as I can. Since my blog today is about my weight loss. I thought I would put in some fun quotes about weight loss.
When we lose twenty pounds... we may be losing the twenty best pounds we have! We may be losing the pounds that contain our genius, our humanity, our love and honesty. ~Woody Allen
A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit. ~Author Unknown
Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but they can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake. ~Author Unknown
I've decided that perhaps I'm bulimic and just keep forgetting to purge. ~Paula Poundstone
Albert Einstein, who discovered that a tiny amount of mass is equal to a huge amount of energy, which explains why, as Einstein himself so eloquently put it in a famous 1939 speech to the Physics Department at Princeton, "You have to exercise for a week to work off the thigh fat from a single Snickers." ~Dave Barry, Dave Barry Turns 50
