Spicer has been playing flag football.  The first several practices were just working out, running the ball, etc.  They didn't really say, "This group won, this group lost."  Last Thursday they started making a distinction of who won or lost.   This was a major issue for Spicer.  He fell out on the ground several times when he didn't win, didn't get the ball, or someone took the ball from him.  It occured to me he was learning how to win and lose for the first time.  Spicer has only played teeball and everyone "wins" in teeball.   So it appears to have come as quite a shock to him.   We had a long talk after his practice last Thursday.   We talked about how you can't always win.  We talked about how even big NFL players lose sometimes.  We talked about how you certianlly can't win or help your team if you are screaming on the ground.   Yesterday he had a much better practice.  There was only one time where he started to pout and I ended up going out on the field and he got back in the game.  I think next week will be even better.  You can do it Spicer!  I love you!

Spicer and I both watch a little tv in the evenings if we have time.  Spicer watches cartoons and I usually watch the news.  Spicer had watched a little show so I told him I was turning on the news.  Sometimes he watches and other times he goes and plays in his room.   Tonight he was halfway listening and halfway playing with his toys.   But he stopped and watched the story on a Utah man who had a motorcycle wreck.   He was pinned under a fiery car and bystanders rushed to lift the car to free him.   After Spicer watched in awe as the man was rescued he said, "Mommy those people are Super Heroes.  They need an award!"  I love Spicer!!!!

It is the call you never want to get...

Me:  Hello?
Kidz Company:  Elizabeth, You need to come pick up Spicer.  He has a 104 temp and is shaking and crying.  .
Me:  I'll be right there!

I was already on my way so I was able to get there very fast.   I took Spicer home first and gave him motrin and then took him straight to Primary Care.   Then I heard the other words a mother never wants to hear.

Me:  So what do we need to do?
Primary Care Doc:  There is nothing we can do really, just keep his temp down and call Dr. Dowdy in the moring

Spicer kept a 104-103 most of the night.  It finally went down early this morning and has stayed around 101-100.   He feels a lot better so I am glad.   Then I had yet another frustrating call.

Dr. Dowdy's Receptionist:  Hello
Me:  Hello, Dr. Dowdy saw Spicer for his Staph Infection and we were told to call if he had a fevor over 101 and he had a 104 last night and early this morning.   What do we need to do?
Dr Dowdy's Receptionist:  Please Hold.  (I hate it when they do that)....... Ms. Blumrick, I am sorry but Dr. Dowdy is out today and his PA is not certified to see children so there is really nothing we can do today but suggest you call his Primary Doctor and go from there.  Thank you! Sorry!

Ugg so then Dr. Hughes nurse calls me and says, "Just watch him.  Now I realize his temp spiked later in the day but we will be here till 4:30."  Gee thanks lady his temp spiked yesterday at 5!!!! :(  UGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Spicer had his first flag football practice yesterday.   He did a great job and is so excited.  Yesterday the coach gave him an assignment to do of 7 push-ups a day, this morning without me even mentioning it he got on the floor and started counting off push-ups.   I am so proud of you Spicer.  Here are a few pics of yesterday's practice.
