Spicer had a rough day Monday but Mrs. James noted on his report that he had really turned around his afternoon.  So I really tried to stress how he should make sure to make Tuesday like Monday afternoon.  The drive to Kidz company puts my tummy in knots.  It get worried that Spicer will have had a rough day.  I was even more worried yesterday since Monday had been so rough.   I walked in the door and Spicer was playing with Legos.  "Mommy I met all my goals!"  He ran to me and I gave him a big hug!!! Not only did Spicer meet his goals but he made 90%.   This morning when we were getting ready for School he said he wanted to make 100%.  I gave him a hug and told him I just wanted him to do his best and I loved him no matter what.   I love you Spicer.  I dedicate the wonderful poem "Oh the Places You'll Go" to Spicer.  Here are a few of my fav lines.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!
by the incomparable Dr. Seuss

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care. About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.” With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!

You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.

You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

Kid, you’ll move mountains!
So…be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!

Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes
Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes

I have no idea why but..... It is very hard to find cute boy's clothes and shoes.   For what ever reason the fashion industry has decided to focus all thier great ideas on girls clothes.   I am not the only one who shares this idea.  Everytime I bring this up another mother with a son agrees with me.   So I have to search high and low for cute clothes for Spicer.  This usally means one of 5 places...... Goodys, JC Penny, Plaid Rabbit, TotNTeen, and Children's Place.   Goodys is usally a last resort.  They are very hard to find cute shoes and clothes but they also happen to be just down the road from my house so sometimes it is just easier.   JC Penny is usally good plus I can order things I can't find in the store online and have it shipped right to the store.  So that is a bonus.   Plaid Rabbit is my fav of all since it is local and very cute.  The funny thing is as long as you buy things on sale they are no different in price than any other place that sells boys clothes.   I usally get a ton of comments with Spicer's clothes from here since they are just so darn cute.  In the middle of Spicer's ARC meeting a few weeks ago one of the teachers stopped and asked me where I got Spicer's rain coat and boots.  :)  TootNTeen is in Paducah so I don't make it there as much anymore but still a great store.  My grandmother used to buy our easter clothes there every year.  It was a special thing for her to take me and pick out a dress.  That brings me to a Children's place.  I like them because they have great deals and really cute stuff.  Plus fewer kids are likely to have thier stuff.  So it is nice for Spicer not to have a cookie cutter look.   And that goes for TotNTeen and Plaid Rabbit too.  Sorry about that rant I just wish there would be cuter boys clothes!

I picked up Spicer early from his dad's today so we could go to mom and dads for a belated birthday.  Mom and dad were at St George this week so we celabrated a little late.   Spicer was so happy to play with Jordan and Leah.  I am so glad he is close to my family.  I love that we try to have weekly Sunday meals as a family.  Family is so important!

Since Spicer has had a much better week I came to school and sat with him while he ate lunch.  He was so excited.  "We get to sit at the round table Mommy and we can talk!!!" he said.   He ate most of his packed lunch and we talked about his day.  When it was time for me to go he asked, "Can you walk me back to my room?" I asked Ms. Carol and she ok'ed it.  Spicer gave me a big hug before I left.  I told him how proud of him I was and he was off to Spanish.  I love you Spicer!

Spicer had some very rough days last week and the week before but last Friday he had a great day and he has had several great days this week.  Today he did great!!!!  I really wanted to play this up so I tried to make this afternoon and evening a ton of fun.  We started with a little prize from the Dollar Store, a cookie, the park, happy meal, and now we are watching a redbox.  I am so proud of you Spicer.  GREAT JOB!!!!!

Under the spreading chestnut tree,
Where I knelt upon my knee,
We were as happy as could be,
Under the spreading chestnut tree.

Spicer had his Spring Concert and he did wonderful today!!!!  I was so pround of him.  He stayed quiet when he needed to, he sang, he did all the moves, he was perfect!!!!!  He waved really big when he saw me come in and smiled.  We made a little system last night.  I told him when I touched my nose I was letting him know he was getting a little out of hand.  I only had to touch my nose twice and he snapped right to attention.  I am so proud of you sweet boy!!!

Spicer has really struggled at school this week and last week.  I was hoping last week was just a fluke.  Last week Spicer did not meet his goals a single day.  It was very tough.   I have talked to him about his issues, we recite his goals, we talk about the rules, we role play, and ofcourse he has consquences for not meeting his goals and then rewards for meeting them.  Last week nothing worked.  I even took away all his toys for a very rough day he had last week.  This week started out with promise.  Monday he did not meet his goals but he was very close.  I praised him for the improvment.  But then yesterday was terrible.  He hit, he pushed, he had metldowns, he wouldn't do his work, he made noises and disrupted class, he kept knocking over his chair, and for some odd reason kept taking his shoes off?????   I really hope he has a better rest of the week.  Next Friday we have a meeting with the school to talk about options for Spicer.  I hope we can come up with the right solutions for him.  I am very lucky.  Spicer has a great team around him at the school.  His teachers, school officals, aides, and other employees are very supportive of Spicer.  Through this whole process I have never felt like they think Spicer is a Bad Kid or made Spicer feel that way.  They have been firm but loving with him.  I hope we can see some light at the end of the tunnel.  I love Spicer so much and want him to do well not just for me but for himself.  I want him to be proud of his behaviors and proud of his performance at school.  I love you Spicer no matter what!!!!

This week has been Dr. Seuss Week for Spicer.  Monday was Oh the Places You Will Go.  The kids all brought a picture of a place they love to go.  Spicer chose a picture of him on the Beach at St. George Island.  Tuesday was One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.  Spicer wore a red shirt.  Wednesday was Green Eggs and Ham day.  They had green eggs and ham for snack and he wore his green and white shirt seen here.  I took him to the Dr. Seuss Birthday Party at our local bookstore.  They had fun cookies, coloring, and readers.  Thursday was read a shirt day.  So we made sure his shirt had words on it.  Then today is the Hat Parade.  So Spicer was off to school this morning with his hat and ready for the parade.  I love you Spicer!
