"It's the way you ride the trail that counts."

The cute little song Happy Trails has a great point.  That is the way we should all look at life.   I love hiking!  It has been quite some time since I have hiked.  Tommy and I decided we wanted to do a little hike yesterday.  We had planned to do about a 2.5 mile hike but when we arrived we decided we wanted something longer.  We ended up on a trail that was double the miles.  The trail is called Honker Trail and it is located by the nature station in LBL.   The hike has several water features.  We saw tons of wildlife.  We saw otters, a blue herron, frogs, deer, and a baby turtle.   After the hike Tommy and I came back to take a nap.  We grilled out for dinner and it was amazing.  We had chicken and cheese burger sliders on rye, sour cream potato salad, grilled veggies, and fruit with candied pecans. YUMMY!! Perfect day!!

Lyrics to "Happy Trails" by Dale Evans Rogers
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.

Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

"The wise man bridges the gap by laying out the path by means of which he can get from where he is to where he wants to go."    John Pierpont Morgan

Several times a day I pass a house on Glendale.  Everyday rain or shine I see an older gentleman out walking with his cane.  He rounds his driveway walking briskly and does many laps.   He has no idea but he is an inspiration to me.  Anytime I see him I remind myself... I can exercise.  If this man who appears to be in his late 80's to 90's can get out there every day and walk I can put forth the effort to exercise, I have no excuses!!!  Thank you sir you have no idea what you inspire!

Thanks Daddy, for teaching me how to give!!!

Stu: I hope you know them's the kids who just beat me up.
Stephen: I know who they are son.
Stu: Then why'd you give them Ma and Lidia's cotton candy?
Stephen: Because they look like that hadn't been given anything in a long time

"Did I do that?"

Steve, the star of Family Matters used tp say that all the time.  I felt like I had one of those moments last night.  The weather was crazy last night so we ended up with Taco Johns.   And what did I order???? Not the chicken taco salad (very filling and low cal without the shell) or my normal chicken crunchy taco, NO!  I ordered Beef loaded nachos and two soft tacos !!!! What was I thinking???  And then what did I do???  I blamed my poor food decisions on Tommy.  DID I DO THAT???? Really???  Tommy didn't make me pick the food!!!  I did!!  Sorry Tommy!!! I love you!!!

We walked today for our exercise....

I'm walkin'
Yes indeed, I'm talkin'
By you and me, I'm hopin'
That you'll come back to me, yeah, yeah

I'm lonely
Yes I can be, I'm waitin'
For your company, I'm hopin'
That you'll come back to me

What you gonna do when the well runs dry?
You gonna run away and hide
I'm gonna run right by your side
For you pretty baby I'll even die

I'm walkin'
Yes indeed I'm talkin'
By you and me, I'm hopin'
That you'll come back to me

I'm lonely
Yes I can be, I'm waitin'
For your company, I'm hopin'
That you'll come back to me

What you gonna do when the well runs dry?
You're gonna sit right down and cry
What you gonna do when I say bye-bye
All you gonna do is dry your eye

I'm walkin'
Yes indeed, I'm talkin'
By you and me, I'm hopin'
That you'll come back to me

"If you want to get to the castle you have to swim the moat!!!!" Elizabeth Gillbert

I was looking at the weight I lost yesterday but getting fixated on "what ifs" and "could have, should have".  I found myself thinking, "What if I had kept loosing the last time I lost 10 - 15lbs?" or "I should have just kept loosing after I had Spicer."  This morning I heard that great quote about swimming the moat.   It is so true!!!  If weight loss were easy I would ahve done it a long time ago.  If you could just snap my fingers and be skinny there would be no fat people!  Is it hard?  Sure it is!!!  But it feels good.  It feels good to get into old pairs of pants, it feels good to be more active, it feels good to wear capris and shorts, it feels good to do a workout for 1.5 hours and make it, and it feels great to beat my time on the stairs!!!!  But I am so ready to get to that castle.   I am almost half-way across the moat!!!!!

Yin yang are complementary opposites that interact within a greater whole, as part of a dynamic system. Everything has both yin and yang aspects, but either of these aspects may manifest more strongly in particular objects, and may ebb or flow over time. The concept of yin and yang is often symbolized by various forms of the Taijitu symbol, for which it is probably best known in western cultures.

There is a perception (especially in the West) that yin and yang correspond to evil and good. However, Taoist philosophy generally discounts good/bad distinctions and other dichotomous moral judgments, in preference to the idea of balance. Confucianism (most notably the philosophy of Dong Zhongshu, c. the 2nd century BCE) did attach a moral dimension to the idea of yin and yang, but the modern sense of the term largely stems from Buddhist adaptations of Taoist philosophy.

This seems like a perfect name for our new kitty.   Introducing.... Miss Yin Yang McKendree!!!!

Western Kentucky United Methodist Family Services helps out Omni Visions all the time with EXTRAS for our foster kids and foster parents.   So they are always needing donations (HINT HINT).   My Co-worker Courtney had the idea to have a Zumbathon to help raise money to send our kids to camp.   Another co-worker, Aileen, let us use her husband's church to have the event.  It was amazing!!!  We were able to get together a ton of door prizes and free gifts.   Everyone had a great time.  The Zumbathon was almost 2 hours worth of work out!!!  I was tired but felt great!!!!   I have really slacked on my work out this week but I felt like I atleast made some of it up by working out for 1.5hrs.   Great Workout for a Great Cause!!!!  FUN FUN FUN!!!
